depressed over the death of a patient
Hi, this is my first post here, but im really feeling depressed. I've lost several patients but this one was different. My patient told me earlier in my shift he had some 'chest pain' so i asked was it pain or was it hearburn. He said its heartburn from eating the chili they had for dinner. So, i called the Dr and got some Tums ordered. Well, the resident felt better, got up had a BM and went to bed. I checked on him about 10 and found him dead. We did CPR but ti was too late. Do you think i didn't do a thorough enough assessment? I am so upset i just can't believe it. He was 81 years old and had a hx of CVA and A fib. Do you think it might have just been his time? Thats what my supervisor told me.
Thanks for anyones advice.
he probably vageld down. the bm probably waht did him in, nothing you did wrong. sometimes its peoples time to die we cant save them all.
