Ontario - Nursing or Ultrasound?
Hey nurses,

I'm currently a second yr student in Rad Tech. I'm planning on either going into sonography or nursing once I'm done my program but I can't decide which.

Ultrasound pros:
- decent pay (seen job postings that state around 32-36$/hr)
- more autonomy, I can review pt history and plan out the scan and write a "report" (not an official report but something similar)
- I can find jobs with regular work hrs (9-5)
- easier for me to adjust to since I'm already in imaging
Ultrasound cons:
- on-the-job injuries due to repetitive motion from scanning is likely
- not high in demand
- diagnosis is not as satisfying to me since I don't feel that I'm helping to improve the patient's condition
- dead end, there isn't much room for career advancement where as nurses can continue their education and become advance practice nurses or nurse practitioners

I don't know much about nursing so I'd like to know what you guys like and dislike about being a nurse. What's the salary like? Work hours? What are your job duties? I live in Toronto, Ontario if that makes a difference.
