Becoming a nurse
Hiya, i'm new to this forum.
I want to become a nurse so i spoke to my college advisor who told me to go into a nursing home and do health & social care NVQ2&3,
Has anyone done it this way? once i have the 2 NVQ's what will come next? will i be a nurse?
I'm 18 so i've started a bit late because my other career path wont take off(nursery nurse)
Also, i have NVQ 2 Certificate in Childcare and Education, will this help me become a children's nurse at all?
Thank you!

I have to agree with your guidance counselor and suggest that you work as a CNA in the pediatric ward of your local hospital. You could easily do this while working on your core curriculum at a local college. You can usually obtain your CNA license in classes at the vocational school and sometimes nursing homes offer classes in exchange for work (be very careful before signing any contracts).
Nursing can be a very difficult and emotionally draining job. Before you spend 4 years (or more) obtaining a degree in nursing you need to be certain it is what you want to do.
Good luck! We always need good nurses. I have been a nurse for 15 years now.
